LIFE

Riiiight so not heaps has happened since last time. Ah just chilled over the weekend, i bought the 1st season of Underbelly on DVD cause i missed it on TV and ive been watching a fair bit of that, its pretty solid not as amazing as ppl make it out to be but def entertaining.

Last night ice linked me to the site for one of Tens new reality TV shows. It’s about poker, hosted by Joe Hachem the link and info are on the front page of RPC. Anyway i sent off an email saying i was interested and i got back a form to fill out with various questions about why i wanted to be on the show and stuff like that which i filled out and sent back. Some of the questions in the application form were pretty standard like “why do you play poker?” “whats the biggest prize you’ve won in a poker tournament” etc. But it had some real weird ones like “tell us about your dream evening” and “have you ever been bankrupt or close to it?” Kinda odd but hey i just blabbered and then at the end gave them a pitch of why they needed me on the show, which basically revolved around me actually knowing how to play the game and the fact i would be able to give the show some integrity.

Anyway so apparently the spiel worked and i received a phone call today from a British chick with a really hot accent who was one of the producers and did a phone interview with her. She just asked more in-depth questions about how much i played and what i used my winnings for and how i got into the game. She seemed pretty stoked that most of my winnings had gone to support my travelling addiction which i guess might have come from the fact that she was an expat. After it all wound up she said that i was on a short list and she will get back to me next week and probably call me in for a casting check in Sydney on the 27th. If i get that call apparently i don’t have to do all the line up shit like the other ppl applying and just get to go straight through so they can meet me in person, still a bitch that i have to go to Syd but hey it might be worth it and i probably need a break anyway.

POKER

So ive been playing a fair bit recently, getting in ~5k hands/day in 5-6 hours. Ive been working on changing up when, where and how much i 3 bet because i think for a while there i was going overboard and it worked but now ppl have started adjusting to me. When ppl flat your 4B with a low/middle PP and get it in on any non A or K board you know they are noticing you lol. Although that situation seems massively +EV for me i wasn’t adjusting enough to them and the variance was making me sick.

Anyway this week has proven to be pretty good so far mainly due to a good couple of sessions to finish off today. From now on for personal reasons i have decided to stop posting graphs and stats which is a shame cause they make pretty pictures but i think its the most +EV decision.

Recently i have been trying to start 1 table a session to get in a small amount of HU practice which although its not a priority or anything im worried about its still good to get a different perspective on the game. I saw Scott Fischman playing at a 400PL FR table and sat down cause his a massive donk. He shortly left but i found him sitting at a 400PL 6M table by himself. Safe to say the HU match was the easiest ive ever played. He was so passive it was ridic and made hand reading so easy i jsut slowly took all the small pots. And then he did something weird ......

Im pretty sure this is the only time in the match he tried to bluff, his timing, line and bet size were just so weird compared to every other hand he had played past the turn so i figured nuts or nothing and considering im pretty sure my fold button on FTP dosnt work anyway, i called. And bam there u have it im awesome haha. Defiantly bum hunt him if you have the chance, easy money.

In other poker news a big fuck up is happening atm. I have tried to withdraw a large sum of money using garybenson.com.au i have used this service many times and honestly the level of service has been amazing. This is the 1st time i have tried to do a withdrawal from poker stars using it and my funds have been in limbo for >24 hours. Stars emailed me that they were having issues with the other account holder (Gary Benson) and that my funds wouldn’t be sent to him until those issues have been cleared up. Since then i have received 3 carbon copy emails from Gary to Poker Stars asking for explanation and wanting to clear it up. As yet Stars has been completely unhelpful saying they will forward mine and Gary’s emails on to the right person but taking long amounts of time between these emails and for the last 8 hours no responses at all. Im sure that everything is fine and i have an email from Stars saying my money is safe and guaranteed. But honestly i don’t see why everyone raves about their support. Full Tilt have been nothing but awesome to me the longest ive ever had to wait for a reply is 2 hours. This is my first encounter with Stars support and it has been nothing short of sloppy.
